World Director

Yellow Brick Games is hiring a World Director to join our team of experienced developers working on an exciting new IP. In this role, you will work closely with directors, level designers and level artists to design and bring to life memorable environments that foster engaging gameplay experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop the vision and strategies to leverage our core game mechanics, balance artistic aspects with technical constraints, while being true to the world logic of our new IP.
  • Alongside other team members build interactive spaces that encourage discovery, reward multiple visits, and slowly reveal the world’s stories through both passive world building and quests.
  • Inspire, guide and mentor level designers on the team in the creation of strong combat and navigational challenges.
  • Collaborate with other project directors to gather feedbacks, set clear objectives and priorities for level design.
  • Build layout benchmarks, from gray block geometry to polished form, while creating high quality level design and quest design documents.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams, defining world design direction and taking games from concept to completion.
  • At least one shipped AAA or AA title in the PC or console space.
  • Passion for world design and logic.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Comfortable managing and directing other level designers.
  • Self-sufficient and resourceful; able to identify and work with technical constraints.
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine, a plus.

Senior Character Artist

Yellow Brick Games is hiring a Senior Character Artist, with a passion for creatures, to join our team of experienced developers working on an exciting new IP. In this role, you will work closely with art leads and directors to design and create high quality 3D character visuals that also encourage an engaging gameplay experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • With a heavy focus on creatures: research and innovate on the creation of hi-res 3D game assets, following the artistic vision of the game
  • Work closely with fellow character artists and tech artists to improve the character art pipeline
  • Work closely with the gameplay team to assist in delivering engaging player experiences with those characters
  • Sculpt, create clean topology and UVs, and texture models
  • Integrate game assets whilst being aware of the technical constraints and limitations
  • Assist in the structure and organization of the pipeline, keeping documentation as needed
  • Communicate and identify problems if they arise in the pipeline
REQUIREMENTS
  • Has shipped at least one AAA title
  • Expert in modeling in ZBrush, Maya (or equivalent), Substance Painter, Photoshop
  • Strong anatomical knowledge of the human form as well as comparative anatomy in animals
  • Knowledge of the creation of hair and fur
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Self-sufficient and resourceful; able to identify and work with technical constraints
EXTRAS
  • Interest in the gameplay experience of the player
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine

Technical Character Artist

Yellow Brick Games is hiring a Technical Character Artist to join our team of experienced developers working on an exciting new IP. In this role, you will work closely with the character team and art director to innovate on the visual style and facilitate, as well as contribute to, the production of characters in the game.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the lead artists and art director to develop the visual style for characters and creatures in the game through Shaders and other pipeline work
  • Development of the visual target for stylized hair, fur, and feathers
  • Identify technical needs in the project related to characters  
  • Assist with modeling of characters and creatures if needed
  • Assist with the rigging and animation team if needed
  • Maintain and organize the material library
  • Optimize shaders and post-processes whilst maintaining visual quality
REQUIREMENTS
  • Has shipped at least one AAA title
  • Excellent art skills with a critical eye for detail and quality
  • Knowledge in Unreal Engine of Shaders and Materials and experience in visual scripting languages
  • Knowledge of Zbrush, Maya, and Substance Designer or Painter
  • Knowledge of anatomy
  • Visual and technical understanding of sculpting, 3D modeling and surfaces
  • Understanding of textures, masks, and creation of tileable textures
  • Understanding of optimization in meshes as well as textures and rigging
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Self-sufficient and resourceful
  • Familiar with Perforce
  • Experience with tools development in Python is a plus
